 2nd Lieu Hope William Massie. My 3rd cousin 3 times removed In his Confederate unform Hope William Massie b. on May 16, 1843 in Nelson Co, VA. Enlisted on Aug 31, 1861 in Nelson Co, VA into the Rives' Nelson Artillery at the age of 18 years old. On Oct 19, 1861 promoted to 2nd Lieu. On Dec 22, 1861 Left at Brooke Station reported himself too sick to accompany Battery on march. Fill the slot left by the promotion of Lt Boyd. On Oct 25, 1862 resigned. Subsequently served in the 2nd VA Cavalry. Post War Miller, Tyro, Nelson Co, VA. On Dec 10, 1892 he died.
