John James Loving Stevens b. on May 26, 1820 6'0", dk complexion, dk hair, blue eyes enlisted in the Nelson Volunteers Co. E, 51st Va Infantry on July 1, 1861 at Nelson Courthouse. He was hospitalized on Sept 15, 1864 for chronic bronchitis at Charlottesville, Va. He was discharged on Oct 17, 1864 for the same disability (chronic bronchitis). After the War he was a farmer in Nelson county. In 1905 he died in Nelson Co, Va.
