Thomas Abijah Whitt ( Alias Abijah Whitt) b. on April 10, 1832 in Montgomery Co., VA. Enlisted on March 1, 1862 at Newberry, Va when he was 29 years old Company E, 24th Virginia Infantry. On Oct 27, 1862 hospitalized. On Oct 31, 1862 hospitalized at Richmond, Va. He participated in the Seven Days battles, Second Manassas, Sharpsburg, and Fredericksburg. He contracted typhoid fever at Fredericksbug and was sent to a Richmond Virginia hospital. When he was sufficiently recovered, he was given an honorable discharge and returned home.
